The Valle Catholic Warriors (14-1) claimed an unprecedented 11th MO State Football Championship on Saturday, November 26, with their 49-7 defeat of South Shelby in the 2011 Show-Me Bowl in St. Louis.
Senior quarterback Michael Wehner led the explosive Valle attack by tossing four touchdown passes on 8-of-12 overall for 259 yards. A 9-yard fade to senior Jared Bruns gave the Warriors a commanding 35-0 lead just before halftime, and was the lone completion by Wehner that did not cover at least 21 yards.
"These kids have been here ever since they were five. They’'ve dreamed about playing in a state championship,"” Valle coach Judd Naeger said. "“They are kids who have had uncles, brothers and dads do the same thing, and they were able to somehow find a way to get back here.“"
